Altarum Preveligiatum

The Main Altar of the shrine was raised to the status of ‘Altarum Preveligiatum’ by the Holy Congregation for Oriental Churches on 28th October 1937. According to this status, the priest who administers Holy Mass here and the faithful who participate in it; and all those who enter into the shrine and pray in front of the altar are blessed with full Indulgence. This high status is rare in Oriental Churches.
